I’m going to be taking a road trip soon. A week in Texas with my two of my little loves and my genuine soul-sister (my sister Jenny) and then a week in Ohio — back to what still feels more like “home” than where I am right now and the two sweet souls that each hold big parts of my heart (my daughters).

I’m venturing to Texas without my husband able to come but we’ll join each other in Ohio. Sweet reunion! We are both looking forward to returning to familiar roads, restaurants, horizons, and, of course, friends.

I stumbled upon this verse:

A twinkle in the eye means joy in the heart, and good news makes you feel fit as a fiddle.

Proverbs 15:30

I love that!!! I am gleeful to spend both of these weeks with a few of the people most important in my life but I have witnessed God’s faithfulness and strength more times over than I can recount over the past few months. It both amazes me and humbles me. But that is all I can tell you. By-and-large, it’s all too mysterious to me to write about…

You may have noticed I like to paint things. I like to start a project in the morning and see my results (and often post them) by 4:00 p.m. that day. This has been like that. There have been other times in my life when, day-by-day, I could SEE God working. I could still feel his chisel honing me and shaping me but in a very short amount of time, I could see evidence-upon-evidence, circumstances changing, prayers answered, and lives changed. I think this can sum it up more adequately:

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father
There is no shadow of turning with Thee
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not
As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be

Great is Thy faithfulness
Great is Thy faithfulness
Morning by morning new mercies I see
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me

Summer and winter and springtime and harvest
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love

Great is Thy faithfulness
Great is Thy faithfulness
Morning by morning new mercies I see
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside

Great is Thy faithfulness
Great is Thy faithfulness
Morning by morning new mercies I see
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me

Written by Thomas Chisholm (1866–1960) with music composed by William M. Runyan (1870–1957) in Baldwin, Kansas, U.S.

It has been like that.

Mr. Chisholm’s words are far better than mine. Pretty powerful.

So I’m hitting the road and can’t wait for the new mercies I see!

It’s simple, daily, ordinary, exciting stuff. Thanks for letting me share…
